The beautiful and thriving town of Pinoso is located about 45 minutes inland from Alicante and the white beaches of the Costa Blanca and close to the border with Murcia and Alicante. It has just under 8,000 inhabitants. Pinoso, also known as El Pinos, is named after the pine trees that cover the mountain ranges in the area. Pinoso offers a Spanish country life, no traffic lights, hardly any traffic, practically the only traffic jams are caused by the tractors bringing the grapes to the bodega. The fields are planted with vines, almonds and olives. In February, the fields are filled with pink almond blossoms. Pinoso has many bars, restaurants and stores, a new 24-hour medical center, dentists, two elementary school and a secondary school, a theater. There is an excellent sports center with outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, soccer pitches, a gym, a library and many other facilities, including a lovely picnic area under the pine trees with barbecue areas, seating and running water.
